How Skincare Saved My Life

A message from our founder, Zyhkeya J. Waller

For years, I lived life on autopilot—juggling motherhood, leading a career, and running businesses. Like so many women, I wore multiple hats with pride, but somewhere in the middle of giving my best to everyone else, I forgot to give something to myself.

I forgot to care for me.

The truth is, I didn’t realize how much I had neglected myself until my body—and my skin—started speaking louder than I could ignore. Breakouts came from stress, dullness crept in from poor eating habits, and fine lines and congestion appeared seemingly out of nowhere. I was exhausted, emotionally depleted, and it was written all over my face.

But that was when everything shifted.

What started as a simple commitment to taking care of my skin—a morning routine here, a nighttime cleanse there—turned into something sacred. I realized that skincare wasn’t just about appearance; it was about presence. When I paused to care for my face, I was actually telling myself:

“You matter. You deserve care. You deserve love.”

That 5–10 minute skincare moment became my mirror. It reflected back not just my physical self, but the quality of life I was living. It centered me. It helped me breathe. It made me commit to healthier eating, intentional living, and deeper self-love.

That journey birthed LuxZuri Skincare Co.
